What it argues
Allen argues that stress and lost productivity come less from having too much to do than from keeping unfinished commitments in one’s head. He proposes a workflow: capture every commitment in a trusted external system, clarify what each requires, organize the results into lists of next actions, projects, things awaited and things deferred, review the whole system weekly, and choose what to do based on context, time, energy and priority. He adds a natural planning model for projects and the two-minute rule: anything that takes less than two minutes is done at once.
