What it argues
Drawing on research with companies pursuing supply chain management, the authors observe that most practice remains fragmented, and that firms climb slowly from functional focus toward true cross-firm collaboration. They propose ten principles in two groups. Supply chain design covers vision and mapping, customer focus, core competencies, simplicity and role shifting. Integration covers bridging organizational walls, differentiated relationships, measurement, people and technology.
