What it argues

A set of recorded dialogues between Gordon and a long-time colleague about how to develop engineering leaders. They name a set of personal qualities that distinguish leaders, such as empathy, integrity, persuasiveness, commitment, resourcefulness and judgment. They argue that teaching facts is not enough: the way material is taught forms the habits and attitudes that produce engineering success, and that is what a leadership program has to cultivate.
