What it argues

The first issues of a trade journal for the then-new microwave industry. The inaugural issue published the Smith chart as a symbol of the field, with a biography of its inventor covering his education, his Bell Labs work on antennas, transmission lines and radar, his patents and his professional service. Later issues carried a multi-part tutorial on using the chart, alongside articles, company profiles and advertisements that show the state of microwave technology at the time.
