What it argues

The standard engineering textbook on product development. It treats development as an interdisciplinary process that runs from planning and opportunity identification, through customer needs, specifications, concept generation, selection and testing, to architecture, industrial design, design for manufacturing, prototyping, robust design, patents, economics and project management. Each chapter pairs a structured method with industrial examples. The book’s central claim is that a well-defined, adaptable process, run by a cross-functional team, produces better products faster and at lower cost.
